IT Helpdesk Operator
(Bangkok)
Responsibilities:
  • Perform tasks associated with the operation of the Thailand IT Help Desk as the focal point for the receipt and lodgement of IT user problems and work requests, registration of problem and support tickets in the Altiris System, and allocation of those problem tickets and work requests to second and third level IT support resources in consultation with the IT Manager as required.
  • Resolve user problems directly at first-level where it is possible to do so.
  • Provide the means through which system and/or network bulletins are broadcast to TH IT users to inform them of outages and/or interruptions to service.
  • Provide tips and guidance to users on the usage of PC hardware and software.
  • Assist the IT Manager with IT administration-related tasks as required on support and project matters
  • Liaise with local and regional counterparts on technical issues and problems as required.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and service providers as may be required for purchasing / orders, equipment deliveries and service repairs. 
  • Ensure the Help Desk problem-tracking system is updated in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide Help Desk and system availability related reports to the IT Manager as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the IT Manager.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Information Technology or a related business field is desirable with a minimum of 2 years experience in providing IT Help Desk / Customer Service type support in a business environment
  • Some knowledge and familiarization in supporting PC hardware / software with a sufficient level of understanding of MS Windows, Active Directory, XP, Outlook and Office to deal with first-level IT problem support.
  • Must have very good telephone and “customer facing” skills and technique, a friendly and outgoing personality, be team-oriented, possess a “can-do” work attitude, be an open and proactive communicator, with good administration skills and a service-minded work ethic.
  • Must be well-organised and feel comfortable working in a multi-task role which involves co-ordinating multiple streams of IT support activity and changing work priorities.
  • Must be able to retain a calm attitude in dealing with IT users in sometimes pressured situations (eg system down).
  • Must have basic conversational English communication skills.
